My Event Planner Experience
S.M.A.R.T Objectives
Here I present our SMART Goals for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Summit that I had set as a goal at the beginning of the semester. These goals are specific, measurable, retainable, result orientated and have a timetable.
1. By April 3, 2015, I want students to learn three new facts by the end of the day. We will be doing this by having students fill out a survey questionnaire at the end of the conference to receive feedback and ask them to list three facts that they learned from today.
2. By April 3, 2015, I will create an environment where registered students feel comfortable enough to network with their peers around the room. I will do this by having three icebreakers, two in the morning and one at lunch to get students to feel comfortable with each other and socialize as well.
3. By April 3, 2015, I will make sure that the food choices have a great variety and are appropriate for college age students. I will do this by offering a taco bar, a salad bar or a nacho bar for lunch at noon.
4. By April 3, 2015, when I first walk into the room at 9am from registration, everyone will sign a banner with one word that describes networking to them. We will then, at the end of the day at 2:30pm, have a discussion time for 30 minutes and really explain what those words mean that everyone wrote down to close out the day like a reflection session to measure how well everyone really networked that day.
5. By April 3, 2015, I will have 6 sponsors giving out coupons in our take home gifts. I will also have bright, fun yet professional colors in the room when we walk in so the space does not look like a boring convention space. Those colors could come through in our centerpieces and/or balloons around the room as blue, white and purple.
6. We would like to see the cost per student under 10 dollars for admission. We would accommodate our budget to automatically charge 8 dollars for admission. So by not going over our budget we are allowed to make that eight dollar charge happen for our guests.
